Suwon Hwaseong Castle was completed in 1796 after over two years of construction on the orders of King Jeongjo, the 22nd monarch of the Joseon dynasty, in memory of his father. Korean Folk Village is a living museum that recreates the lifestyle of several centuries ago. There are potters, weavers, blacksmiths, and other artisans who practice their trades in traditional fashion. There are also 240 traditional homes and a small amphitheater for music and folk dances.

The 3rd infiltration tunnel was discovered in 1978.
